Families are set to have better access to kindergarten, maternal and child health and allied health services, with the State Government investing to help deliver a brand-new integrated children’s centre in Atticus Estate.
Member for Yan Yean Lauren Kathage today announced the Victorian Government’s funding for the new Darebin Creek Community Centre (interim name), which is being delivered in partnership with City of Whittlesea.
For busy families in Donnybrook and surrounds, this integrated children’s centre will mean more services in one place and less running around between appointments, kinder and other health and education supports.
The $10.937 million project includes $6.75 million from the Victorian Government and $4.187 million from Council.
The new centre will include:
- Three kindergarten rooms, providing up to 178 kindergarten places for local children
- Two maternal and child health and allied health consulting rooms
- A multipurpose community space
- A dedicated car park.
Designs for the centre are being prepared, with construction to begin next year.
The project is part of the Building Blocks Partnership between the Victorian Government and City of Whittlesea.
The investment is part of Victoria’s nation-leading Best Start, Best Life reforms, which are expanding access to kindergarten and delivering new and upgraded early childhood facilities across the state.
